I just returned from a business trip to California... and I must admit, that since the time I first felt the sandpaper abrasion of society's deceptiveness, I immediately placed most of the blame on the starry-eyed spawn of Hollywood, the media, and its resultant proclamations. Somehow, through years of Hollywood leaving a sour taste in my mouth, the entire State of California was bitterly flavored for me before I even had a chance to taste its delicacies. How mistaken I was.
Above all of the materialism and self-centered longings of young and old alike to rise to fame, there lives a State of Beauty. A State of Natural Wonders Abounding... unspoiled amongst the spoiled. I saw the side of California that doesn't revolve around brats in the hills or melodramatic soap operas. I saw the reality of a State set apart in beauty, with its abundant coastline and landscapes to inspire endless generations of architects and photographers alike... I don't loathe California, afterall. I love it, actually. It's the pervasive sense of self that I loathe- the insatiable desire to be the center of everything. But the reality is that at the center of everything is the Creator... and no matter where you go- from the sunrise of the Atlantic, to the Peaks of the Adirondacks, to the Pacific Blue... He is there shining in pure radiance. The peace that is found there is where earth meets heaven. The tranquility is where the dimension of the timed life crosses into the folds of eternity. And we are free- free and blessed- to have all of this sculpted earth to take in... from one beautiful coast to another.

But enough of my verbal musings. I captured what my eyes and spirit took in with digital stills.... and in my next few posts will be my story.
Here is Chapter One.
