Little homes, little surprises everywhere....

Tonight I went to our yearly Passover Seder at my sister's wonderful church. I have joined in this celebration for the past three years, and each time I learn something new about the depth of symbolism beneath the traditions.

For instance, tonight, what really struck me was the real meaning behind the tradition of hiding the "Afikomen," which is a piece of broken matzah. It all begins with three pieces of matzah, which are all together. The piece in the middle of the three is broken, and the other two pieces are laid aside. The broken piece is then put into the Afikomen bag and is hidden. The children (or perhaps even adults) search for the bag, and the one who finds it is awarded with a prize.

Looking at this with a quick glance, it might just sound like a fun little game. But there is such a wonderful truth behind this symbolic gesture. Each piece of matzah represents three pieces to a whole- Father, Son and Holy Spirit. One piece is separated for a time, hidden in darkness, and broken- just like Jesus was separated from the Father and the Holy Spirit when he came to earth, was persecuted and betrayed, and then he died on the cross. He rose again and is our pathway to eternal life. So the one who finds the broken piece, or in other words, the one who accepts that Christ died on the cross and was broken to redeem us from our sin, wins the greatest prize ever known to man.... everlasting life through a relationship with Jesus Christ!!

So cool! :)

And at the end of the evening, after we cleaned up, we were blessed to be able to witness a miracle! We got to hold two beautiful baby squirrels that were homeless and abandoned after their tree was cut down. Thankfully, a loving woman from church, named Pat, gave them a home and is working to build their strength. I prayed over the little miracles and we all gushed over how precious they were! I can't wait to see them climbing trees one day! Here is a picture of one of them:

Today served as a useful reminder that God's blessings are everywhere that we look. Whether in traditions long lost or forgotten, or trees that we carelessly cut down.... a miracle is within. <3

Thanks for stopping by and God Bless!
