One Word 365: Contentment

Rather than make a New Year's Resolution that I either will or will not keep, I have decided to pursue growth in many areas of my life, using one simple word as my objective. And the word that I chose is....

While I consider myself to be a pretty content person already, I know that I can still grow into this word to make it apply to many areas of my life where there is longing or even unseen discontentment. The truth is, I am profoundly blessed to have a very present gift called life, and in this life, I have been given countless blessings that I want to become more aware of everyday.

In pursuing contentment, I pray to achieve the following, with God's help!

-A life of simplicity.
-A more grateful heart.
-A more expanded worldview and external focus.
-Peace which flows like a river. A peace so deep that it's almost tangible and contagious to those around me.
-More smiles, laughter, and freedom.

These things will inevitably lead to many other positive reactions in my life and the lives of those that I am able to touch during my growth. In all honesty, I am excited to pursue a word which has our commercial society as its nemesis. This world, and its tormenter, the devil, does not want us to be content with anything: God, ourselves, our family, our friends, our churches, our belongings, you name it! If he can tarnish our view of something, he won't stop until the tarnish is thick and the beauty of life forgotten! But God's Word is a key ingredient in removing the tarnish and polishing our perspective so that we may never forget how much of a gift is in our blessings and trials!

Take a look at your heart. Is there room for you to reconsider your blessings and trials and pursue a life of CONTENTMENT with me?

Here are some Scriptures to help get us started:

If there is another area of your life that could use some work and you can think of a word to describe it, choose your word and make your commitment known here:
